So here's my first attempt at setting the wheels in motion again and reestablishing my blogging routine. I will keep it short and sweet: a recent picture of me and A. playing outside on a nice, sunny day. As the resident photographer of the family, I take way more photos than I'm in, so consider this a rare treat. It's motivation to me to ensure that this blog is a treat too--but one that's not so rare!

What Blogging and Exercise Have in Common
Blogging is like exercising: once your routine is disrupted, it can be (really, really) hard to get going again. I apologize for the three-week spell between posts. First, I was busy landing a new job, and then I got sick. But a third chunk of time was plain lack of inertia, and for that, I have no justification.

WW#31: The Word (Hint: It's Not The Bird)
Wordless Wednesday: The Word (Hint: It's Not The Bird)
I hope you appreciate the irony that today's Wordless Wednesday post is entitled "The Word". Side note: I recently calculated that only 2 of my first 30 Wordless Wednesday posts were actually wordless (titles excluded). As a marketer, I am guilty of false advertising and for that, I apologize. Now, before we get to today's post, I have a few additional thoughts to share...
Like me, A. has been babbling for a while now (video proof). It wasn't until this weekend, though, that she clearly uttered "the word" with intent. Fortunately, I was there to capture it on video and bask in all of its glory. What is the word, you might ask? Anyone who is a Facebook friend likely knows. But for those of you who aren't, you'll just have to watch the video to find out. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the bird. No, the bird is definitely not the word.
What were your kid's first words?

#35: Life's A Blur (Simulating Newborn Vision)
When you have a kid, everything is as blurry for them as it is for you--at least, at first.
BabyCenter says that newborns can't focus farther than 8 to 15 inches away. That's why when I took this picture, I imagined the blur was how A. saw her mama during the first days of her life.
Fortunately, our baby's vision has improved greatly since then. How do I know? I was recently holding her, looking out the dining room window, and she recognized Steph getting out of the car in the driveway.
Considering that Steph and I both wear glasses, though, the genetic odds are stacked against A. and she'll likely need glasses too someday. Until then, or the arrival of a sibling (don't get your hopes up!), the only person in our house with newborn vision will be me sans glasses!

WW#30: Cuter Than A Cupcake
Wordless Wednesday: Cuter Than A Cupcake
Cuter than a cupcake. Taller than a beanpole. And well on her way to walking. That's my little girl!
Over the weekend, A. started taking two to three steps at a time before falling. We think it might have been a play date with her older, more mobile friends Max and Jenna that gave her a gentle nudge. Pretty soon there will be no holding her back!
